Solaris 10 - Oracle 12 new installation failing

Dear Experts,

I am installing NetWeaver 7.31 on Oracle 12c on a test Solaris 10 system in VMware. This is the first brand new

installation that I am performing. I have ironed out all the prerequisites, except for an old OS kernel.

The installation copied all the files successfully, but the linking process failed miserably, here is an excerpt from

the corresponding log file:

/usr/ccs/bin/ma

ke -f ins_rdbms.mk client_sharedlib ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/<SID>/12102//oracle/DEV/12102/bin/genclntsh
genclntsh: Failed to link libclntsh.so.12.1
* Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `client_sharedlib'

I have been googling a LOT, but I am only finding suggestions, that people were trying to install 32-bit oracle on 64-bit OS

or vice versa. And this is CLEARLY not my case. I have already checked, that my Solaris is 64-bit and the Oracle 12 media

that I have downloaded is

51047707Oracle 12.1 RDBMS Solaris on x64 64bit

and the label inside clearly says, that it's 64-bit:

CDLABEL.ASC:

ORACLE 12.1 64-BIT

RDBMS

Solaris on x64 64bit

Number 51047707

and LABEL.ASC:

ORACLE:12.1:RDBMS:Oracle RDBMS 12.1.0.2 for Solaris X86_64 DVD:SOLARIS_X86_64:SUNOS_64:D51047707

Furthermore I have been using this media for upgrading an existing oracle 11 system and it went through really fine!

I have also suspected that I might have installed the OS wrong. I took a copy of the same VM from a point in time, before

I had started the installation of SAP and Oracle, I have put there the installation files of oracle 11g and it installed like

a breeze, without any single error !! So, there must be something specific to oracle 12...

Please kindly advise on how to solve this error. Many thanks in advance!
